STONEWORK · § II

Cut, dry-fit, and pointed on a settled base.

A stone patio is as much about what's under the stone as what's on top. Proper base preparation, drainage, and joint detail are what separate a patio that reads as craft from one that heaves, stains, and shifts in its first winter.

LICENSED · VA · MD · DC · SINCE 2009

Hand-set flagstone patio framed by dark wicker lounge chairs with red cushions and a low round table, surrounded by deep greenery.

Excavate, lay and compact the stone base, screed the sand or setting bed.

  3. 03

Dry-fit each stone, cut edges to lines, seat into the bed with edge restraint.

  4. 04

    Finish

Point with mortar or polymeric sand per spec, clean and seal if required.

Bluestone, flagstone, or travertine — we match the stone to the house. Written estimate and a scoped timeline before we break ground.
