CATEGORY · MASONRY
Steps, drives, fireplaces, and the structural work beneath them.
Brick, block, and quarried stone — set and pointed to carry load and weather. Summit's masonry covers the workhorses of a property: outdoor steps, driveway pavers, fireplaces and chimneys, and the foundation work below it all.

DISCIPLINES
Four disciplines.
- 01 Treads and risers sized to a comfortable stride.
Outdoor Steps
Outdoor steps are the first and last stone a visitor touches. Sized wrong, they're a trip hazard; sized right, they disappear into the approach. Every set we build starts with a stride measurement and ends pitched to shed water away from the house.
- 02 Interlocking stone, built to outlast poured concrete.
Driveway Pavers
A paver driveway is a slab's structural equal with a stone surface's character. Individually replaceable, freeze-thaw-tolerant, and able to hold a car for decades if the base under it is prepared right.
- 03 Underpinning, injection, and rebuild.
Foundation Repair
Settlement is a quiet kind of damage — a hairline in a wall, a door that won't close, a step that has dropped a half inch. Foundation repair means reading the symptom back to the cause and fixing the cause, not hiding the crack.
- 04 Firebox, flue, and facing — new and restored.
Fireplaces and Chimneys
A good fireplace is three pieces of masonry stacked on each other: the firebox that holds the fire, the flue that carries the smoke, and the face that everyone in the room sees. Each has its own tolerances; the whole only works when the three are built together.
Licensed in Virginia, Maryland, and the District. Every masonry project begins with a site visit and a written estimate.
